That infamous saying...

First comes Love......

Then comes marriage....

You all know what comes next....

It's a boy :)

Love for a boy.

I can't get over how much I love this goober.
Last night I was on his computer rattling on about our to do list for the wedding.
Out of the blue he tilts his head to one side and smiles while saying "I love you."
"How come?" I ask. This is a favorite game of ours.
"Because after we get married and you start wearing garments, you'll still be able to wear all of your same clothes. So you'll still look cute all the time."
What a gem :)

Being engaged while still being a college student...

I always thought that if I got married (Big emphasis on the IF) I would be totally and completely prepared for that would entail. I would have been done with school, had a solid career, enough money to support myself, and enough common sense to actually plan on getting married in the near future...

But of course now that is not the case. Right now I am juggling summer school, planning a wedding, being broke, and being hours away from my close friends and family.

It's a little more than stressful. I have hours upon hours of homework each night (Go figure when I am only taking 3 classes) I only get to see my fiancée for maybe two or three hours a day (he's working 12 hour shifts to pay off my ring and pay for the honeymoon. Bless his heart) and I am reduced to a diet of pasta every day. (is it still possible to maintain my weight to fit into my dress when I eat two bowls of that carbalicious goodness a day??? Please say yes.)

I have tried getting a job. Believe me. I even went as far as to apply to be a technical writer for an IT company. I then thought of doing the internship route just for the experience and have heard back from no one. So now I have to resort to dip into my savings just to buy food to last me the week.

My family has been very generous in sporting me through school. I will always be indebted to their generosity. But my allowance only stretches so far and I hate asking for more money. I have even debated donating plasma but my dad is very much against it. And him being a doctor I think it's in my best interest to listen.

Sometimes I just sit at my desk with my head about to explode with how many things I have to worry about floating around in my head. Sometimes I get to the point where I want to call it all off and say "Let's try again next year."
But then I look down at my beyond gorgeous ring and feel all of the love that Clay has put into it. I feel all of my worries slip away. So what if I hardly ever sleep anymore? So what if I gain some weight? So what if I can't afford to buy makeup? I am the happiest girl in the world and in three months I get to marry my best friend who doesn't care if I wear makeup or not. I know I have some challenges right now, but in a few years they'll be insignificant.
I love Clay so much and can't wait to marry him.

Right now it's 11:30 at night and I have about 3 hours of homework left to do. So I'm going to make some mac n cheese and relish in the glow of my ring.
I'm so happy :)

First comes love, then comes Marriage...

We're Engaged!!!

Oh goodness I don't even know where to begin. I am so deliciously happy.
I guess I can start where we met. It is actually kind of a funny story...
I had been living in Utah for about a month and a half already. Enjoying the mountains, taking summer classes, making lots of new comrades and trying a lot of things I had never done before. Things like outdoor rock climbing, country dancing, learning to drive stick shift and playing soccer. Now I had played soccer before mind you, but when I was six. I was on the Blue Dragons team and I absolutely hated it. My little sister Eliza is a whiz at soccer so I've been around it my whole life, just never had much of an interest in playing. This was until the world cup started and soccer became the cool thing to do...
Suddenly I was playing in the parks with groups of friends, buying shin-guards, and requesting help with shooting techniques.
One day my friend Matt invited me and my roommate Noelia to come play with him and some of his friends at a park, and that's where it all went down. Clay was Matt's cousin who had recently returned to Utah from selling pest control in Oregon. Apparently he was intrigued at first sight, but I didn't take much notice of him. It wasn't until I accidently kicked him when I was trying to steal the ball that I first noticed him. During the rest of the game he would run up to me and complain about how his leg hurt. I would apologize profusely again and again but I knew that there was no way I caused any real damage. After the game he somehow got invited over to my apartment and everyday since then he would come up with excuses to come over. Once I even got dropped off by another date and when I opened my apartment door, there was Clay sitting on my couch waiting for me.
Since that day we have spent maybe a total of 15 days apart.
Which is rather amazing considering how quickly I used to discard guys I used to date, but Clay is most definitely different.
I have never had a guy pursue me so fervently and still not get jealous or even upset when I claimed that I still needed to continue dating other guys to be sure that I wanted to be exclusive with him. Clay was so patient and hardly ever complained. He waited six months for me to finally consent to be is girlfriend.
Since then life has been pure bliss.
Sure we've had our ups and downs as every couple does, but now I can't picture my life without him. He has made me the happiest girl in the world. He never ceases to surprise me and always makes me laugh. He is the hardest working man I know and is extremely loyal to his family. He may act like a five year old half of the time, but it's one of the things I love about him. I am so excited to see where our life together will lead.

So everybody get ready for September 3rd (our wedding date).

It's going to be a day to remember :)

The End is Near...

Does anyone else have a harder time with winter semester?
It's killing me. There is absolutely no good weather and the class work seems endless.
Thankfully it is a week away from being done with FOREVER!!!
After this I have three more semesters and I will have my degree.
Only one more winter semester and then never again.
HALLELUJAH!

Spring is coming!!!

I don't know about you all, but I really really don't like winter weather. This probably comes from living in Las Vegas for 11 years, but I am definitely more accustomed to milder winters. But now the snow has melted and you can actually feel the sun on you. Nevermind that it's almost the end of March. So now thoughts of summer are filling my head. I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself, but I can't help it. Here is a list of things I am looking forward to in the summer:
  • Summer semester (the population at UVU drastically changes over the summer. You can actually find a parking space!)
  • Lake Powell
  • Missouri
  • Getting to sleep in everyday
  • Hikes up in Sundance
  • Rock Climbing
  • Bike riding
  • Swimming
  • Tan skin
  • Reading for fun
  • Wearing skirts and shorts
  • Tuachan (We'll be seeing the Little Mermaid!)
  • The Bahamas (In August!)
This will be the last summer before I graduate, crazy I know. So I am planning on making the most of it.

Mollie Stealing the Show

I've always known my little sister was an amazing singer.
Last night she proved it to the world.
She performed at BYU's Night of Broadway and was their final solo act.
She basically stole the show.

p.s. I won a mini golf tournament last night so basically we're a family of champions. :)

Zombies are eating my brains....

Not literally of course.
I'm writing a story for my fiction class and I decided to include these beauties.
I have lots of ideas but I just can't seem to get a story line together.
So I've been doing lots and lots of research.
And now I'm pretty much obsessed.

Smiling is my Favorite

I've been in an exceptional mood as of late. Which can be surprising considering the weather. And yet all day long you can catch me grinning away like I had gotten away with something. I had someone ask me what makes you so happy? I couldn't think of anything at first but now I have come up with some good reasons...
  • My birthday is in 6 days
  • I am dancing regularly again
  • I am in a major that I love
  • I have great roommates
  • I have netflix thanks to M&D
  • I finally have pretty much mastered the stick shift
  • I am reading several hours a day
  • My favorite person also just happens to be my boyfriend
  • Cafe Rio is just down the street whenever I need it
  • And yesterday in class a fellow student read over my notes for a story I'm working on and the entire time he giggled like a little girl.
Are those enough reasons for ya? :)

Christmas is over.... Let the dieting begin!

Hello all! Life is busy and hectic as always, but I embrace the chaos so it's all good in my book. Christmas was definitely different to say the least... Two days before we moved into an adorable almost 'cottage' like home in Rolla. Hooray for no more apartment! We had a darling miniature tree on our coffee table and a nice quiet Christmas Eve. My favorite presents were to name a few... My new sexy-time boots, That Thing You Do (My all-time favorite movie), and most importantly a KINDLE!!! I've downloaded 3 books already like the nerd that I am. ( Clay said that he wouldn't be surprised if I named my first child Kindle. Silly boy. Maybe for a middle name :)). Anyway, now I am back in Utah. I only was able to be with my family for 10 short days because I have to be out of my apartment tomorrow and will be homeless for the next three days until I can move into my new place. Hopefully this next year will be much less chaotic. I'm so happy to be in Utah now and to have such good roommates (who I will be living with next year. Yay!) and to have been so blessed.
Happy Holidays to all!

Happy Halloween!!!!

I hope everybody had a great holiday!
Personally Halloween isn't my favorite, but this year was so much fun!
It was filled with giving out candy on Mainstreet, bowling in costume, and watching The Birds.
A Perfect weekend to say the least. :)

Musings...

I'm beginning to become aware of the phenomenon that when people who say they are "realists" they are actually saying "I do not possess a creative bone in my body and I'm going to be a Debbie Downer and rain on your parade."

So what if life isn't just one big musical?
So what if you can't bounce on clouds?
So what if my dog can't read my inner most thoughts?

I can still dream can't I?
I know that I can't have my head in the clouds all the time.
There is still work to be done and goals to be met.

But I still have a secret ambition to be an award winning novelist/prima ballerina that gets paid in Sweetarts and Cocktail rings.

But that's my right.

So carry on all of you artists/creators/dreamers
and consider me part of your club. :)
Ciao!

The woes of an English Major.

Sometimes I write. I swear I do.
Just not what I want.
This semester I am finishing my generals so that I can just focus on my writing the next few semesters.
And I am MISERABLE.
Health, math, and spanish are all well and good, but I am much happier writing stories.
I've started writing for the school newspaper to have a creative outlet,
but it's almost as bad as writing research papers.
I'm guessing this means no career in journalsim.....
Oh Well.
I'm switching gears and will be working on a literary journal in the upcoming weeks.
Hopefully it'll fill the hole in my writer's gut.
Till then I will deal with Old movies (I watched the Original Batman and Robin this week. "Holy Bikini Batman!!! Hilarious.),
Listening to Lady Gaga (Mollie got me hooked)
And rock climbing (My new sport :)).

So Long Sweet Summer.....

I can't believe it's August already. Where did the summer go? I have been here in Orem for 3 months exactly, and I am having the time of my life. I really do think I'm supposed to be here for a reason and I'm still trying to discover why that is, but in the mean time, I'm going to keep having a blast. Here's a little taste of what I've been doing lately:

Living within driving distance of Las Vegas has been such a blessing.

Having Molls living only 10 minutes away definitely makes life more enjoyable. :)

I have two roommates Noelia and Tara. We get along so well and I consider them family.

I LOVE my ward. This is the first student ward I've been in where there are active members who actually are cool.

I've discovered a new favorite band. Imagine Dragons. Their lead singer went to the high school next to mine and I used to go to his concerts back then. Now he has grown into an amazing performer and his band is phenomenal!

This guy is a nice perk as well. Meet Clay.

Now I am officially a Junior and will be finishing my generals this next semester and then after that I will be fully immersed in my major.
Crazy stuff.
Needless to say I am uber excited to see how these next few months turn out. :)

The Toys Are Back in Town.

Last night I saw Toy Story 3 with some friends and my newly orientated college freshman (Mookie).
Mollie had a good time. I swear.

If you haven't seen it yet, you need to go to the movie theater right this minute. Best summer movie by far in my opinion.
It was so good it rivaled the first Toy Story.

And as a bonus you get these stellar frames. I think I will be sporting these babies for a good long time. :)

I'm going back home tomorrow..... I can't even wait!

Two years have come and gone...

Today one of my best friends is coming home after serving a two year mission. I am so incredibly proud of him. It got me thinking about what these past two years have meant to me and to be honest, they have been the greatest years of my life. In the past two years I have:
  • Lived in 4 different states (6 cities)
  • Attended 3 Different Universities (Eastern, Disney,Utah Valley)
  • Changed my major twice (Nutrition and Creative Writing)
  • Gotten in a major car accident
  • Had two surgeries
  • Completed an internship
  • Worked a full-time job
  • Drove 6 different cars
  • Had 2 Driver's licenses from different states
  • Fell in love
  • Had my heart broken
  • Made friends from across the globe
  • Made at least 20 road-trips
  • Had my best friend get married
  • Had my grandpa Die
  • Had about 10 different hairstyles
  • Groomed my dog
  • Had 4 new cousins born
  • Read at least 50 books
I've also learned a few lessons on the way. Such as:
  • How to drive a Stick Shift
  • My family will always love me, no matter what
  • "No Man is an Island." (Sorry Hugh)
  • People are just as confused as I am
  • Music is essential for life
  • Faith and love are the two most important things in the world
  • Long distance can have absolutely no effect on true friendships
  • Your sisters can also be your best Friends.
Now I am back in Utah, some may say even where I started in the first place. But they would be wrong. These two years have been the hardest of my life. I've experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows and I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. In the past two years I've lived more than I ever have in my entire life, and I will be eternally grateful for the experiences I've had. I can't wait to see what the next two years are going to bring, I'm determined to make them better than the last.

So welcome back Elder Hawker. I've missed my rock-climbing, Shark Week Watching, Golden Spoon eating friend.
We're going to have LOTS to talk about.

NINE

Probably the most pointless musical I have ever seen. Besides "Once Upon A Mattress"
{No Offense Mollie :)}

On the plus side, Who knew Kate Hudson could belt out a song like that? Bravo.
