It's the End of August and you know what that means....

Yay for School! I love this time of year. Believe it or not I really do like going to school. I love the back to school shopping and getting brand new notebooks and pens. As well as the going to class, learning, and getting an education stuff too. ;)

Once again I'm back at good old Eastern. Not really sure why because my last semester here was a less than stellar experience, but I'm trying to make the most of it.... In the meantime I am contemplating tranferring schools just one more time. Is it bad to go to three different universities during my college years? Probably, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Right? So if anyone has any suggestions about where I should pursue my academic adventures I would greatly appreciate it.

In the meantime I will be enjoying my own dorm room (I have one all to myself!) and taking advantage of the free yoga classes offered at our rec center. :)

Finally!

Who's excited?!?! I know I am!

Tagged by Sam......

1. What is your current obsession?
- Right now I’m really in to writing letters. For whatever reason, every time I write a full-length letter or even a little note and drop it in the mail, I get a natural high. I always get really excited whenever I go to check the mail and I see something that’s addressed to me, so I thought I’d start doing it for other people. You’d be surprised how much fun it can be.

2. What do you hate that everyone else seems to love?
- I really don't like Edward Cullen (from Twilight). I know that he's supposedly the most perfect boy ever, but I think he's overrated. Perfection is boring. I would much rather read about an average guy that makes mistakes but you still fall head over heels in love with him.

3. What are you wearing today?
- My guard uniform. You would think that after wearing it all day in the humidity I would just want to rip it off when I got home. However, that’s not always the case. I usually end up wearing it for the rest of the day while I do errands, watch tv, or even go to a party. I like it because it’s fairly comfortable and people don’t judge you for not doing your hair or make up while wearing it.

4. What’s for dinner?
- A salad that I got from the pool bar. Everyday our pool bar throws out a ton of sandwiches, salads, cakes, and all sorts of goodies that no one eats. So us guards like to go and beg for food and occasionally the workers will take pity on us and give us a feast.

5. What would you eat for your last meal?
Orange chicken from Panda Express, French Fries from In-n-Out, the classic sub from Jersey Mikes, a Mint Chocolate Chip Milk shake, and for dessert a pazzokie from Bj’s. Basically all unhealthy things.

6. What is the last thing you bought?
- A spicy Italian sandwich from subway. Not the most healthy item on their menu, but it’s oh so good.

7. What are you listening to right now?
- The Twilight Zone is on tv right now. They’re having a marathon on the sci-fi channel and I am loving every minute of it. Nerd Alert!

8. What do you think of the person that tagged you?
- I love Sam. We’ve known each other since…. I don’t even know when. She’s such a sweetheart and has always been a good example to me. We may not talk all the time or hang out very much, but I will always consider her as a good friend.

9. If you could have a house- fully paid for and totally furnished – anywhere in the world, where would it be?
- That’s a tough one, since there are so many places that I think I would like to live in, but I’ve never been there. If it were in the U.S., I would say either Nashville, or D.C. I think both are beautiful and both have a modern and an old feel to them. Out of the country I would have to say Ireland. Based on pictures that I’ve seen.

10. If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would it be?
- I would go somewhere considerably cooler than Florida. With a beach. Maybe Naples.

11. What is one of your hobbies?
- I LOVE to read. On average I can usually get through a book a week, when I don’t have distractions like school or work to keep me from it. My whole family is big on reading too. On any given day you’d be able to find at least one of us curled up with a good book.

12. What is your favorite quote?
- Fun one: “Don’t take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyways.”
Serious one: “Come what may and LOVE it!” – Joseph B. Wirthlin

13. What is your favorite color?
- I really like the color green. But it has to be certain shades. Like sea foam green, or Kelly green. All the other greens are just ehh….

14. What is your favorite piece of clothing in your wardrobe?
- I have this green dress that is like my power suit. Whenever I wear it I feel like I’m the kind of girl that gets exactly what she wants when she wants it. If I need to look amazing on a date or just want to feel great I wear that dress. It never lets me down.

15. What is your dream job?
- I’ve always had an ambition to become a writer. I don’t know if I want to write novels, news articles, a screenplay, or biographies. All I know is that I want to write something. I also really want to be a mother. I feel like that’s my calling in life, hopefully someday I’ll be able to fulfill it.

16. Describe your personal style?
- I’m not really sure what my style is. I like to be comfortable and feel good. I feel like my style is constantly changing based on where I’m currently living or on the people that I spend most of my time with. It’s an on-going process.

17. What is your favorite tree?
- I’m not gonna lie, I’m not a tree expert. I guess my favorite tree would be ones that have flowers bloom on them in the spring. The earth could always use some more flowers.

18. What are you going to do after this?
- I should go to the gym, but I think I’m just going to do laundry and watch a movie with Meryl.

19. What is your favorite fruit?
- Definitely strawberries sliced with some sugar sprinkled on them. Sooo gooood.

20. What inspires you?
- A lot inspires me. It can be a song, a book, natural beauty, or even a random person that I may come across. I guess what inspires me most are things that dare to not go with the flow, that create their own path and find their own way.

21. Who was the last person that you kissed?
- Peter. I miss him.

22. What are you currently reading?
- Snow Flower and the Secret Fan and the Book of Mormon.

23. Go to your bookshelf, take down the first book that you see with a red binding, turn to page 26 and type out the first line.
- We were practically the same height, but he weighed about twice as much as I did. He had these very broad shoulders.
(From the Catcher in the Rye. Holden is talking about his roommate Stradlater) I read it for the first time this summer. I still don’t know if I liked it or not.

24. What delighted you the most today?
- Hosting the limbo contest at the Fort’s pool party. Little kids are just too funny.

25. If your life had a theme song, what would it be?
- “I can’t Wait” by Hilary Duff (this is from her Lizzie McGuire days)

26. If you bought a wiener dog today, what would you name it?
- Ferdinand. I’ve always like that name. I don’t know why. But I could never replace my Maxi-poo.
27. What is your most memorable dream?
- I keep having this dream where I am going on a quest to find or achieve something, and if I don’t there will be dire consequences. The people I go with never stay the same and the places that I stop on my journey are always different, but I’m always working toward the same goal with the same amount of urgency. I never know what exactly it is, but I know it’s extremely important. I’ve been having this dream for years now and I’m hoping that someday I’ll be able to figure it out.

The rules: Respond and rework; answer the questions on your blog, replace one question you dislike with a question of your own.
2. Tag eight other people.
People I Tag: Julie, Jamie, Cari, Mom, Mary, and Jillian

WoNdErWoRkS

Yesterday on our day off, my friend Meryl and I decided to explore this place called WonderWorks. On the outside it looks like a huge house that's been flipped upside down. When you go in it's like a discovery museuem. There are all sorts of things you can do; like lie on a bed of nails, measure how fast you can pitch a baseball, move things with your mind, and test your reaction time.

My favorite part was a test that told you your virtual age and how long you are going to live. According to the test I am 14 years old and I'm going to live to be 79. We'll see how it works out.

5 down...OnLy 1 & 1/2 to go........

Sunday marked my 5 month anniversary of being here in FlorIda. The time has flown by. Now I'm on the downhill slope just waiting for the summer to be over. If you have never experienced summer in Orlando, consider yourself lucky. If the lightening storms don't kill you, the humidity and the mosquitos most likely will. When I leave my apartment my glasses will start to fog up. So depressing.....

Anyway I can't believe how long it has taken me to actually post something. I'm very sorry about that. My life feels like it's been a comeplete whirlwind lately, and now I'm finally able to catch my breath. Here's a little bit of what's been going on in the past few months:In may I was asked to help guard at the ironman competition held at Disney World. The participants swam in the lake by the Wilderness Lodge which is really pretty but also really gross. I was stationed on a lake patrol boat and had to jump in about 30 times to give people a break when they needed one. It was a lot of work but oh so much fun.
Currently I've been statused at the Fort Wilderness campground where I have been doing everything from lifeguarding, to hosting kids pool parties, and being a bingo announcer on the weekends. If I was two inches shorter they would probably make me dress up as chip or dale so thanks mom and dad for my height! haha I didn't think I would like working at a campground but it has really grown on me. On some of my breaks I even go fishing. Grandpa would be so proud!

The first week in June I went on a roadtrip to Wisconsin to visit this guy's family. For those of you who haven't met him let me fill you in. This is Peter. He goes to NYU and was also lifeguarding at Disneyworld. He is very sweet and enjoys a good musical every once and a while. When we got to Wisconsin I was informed that we would be participating in a neighborhood biathalon (13.1 miles of biking and running) the next day. What a great way to meet the family. I did finish but I came in dead last, Peter felt bad and walked the last lap with me.

Well that's about everything interesting that's happened to me lately. Now I'm just working my tail off and trying to save up some money. If anybody wants to come visit I still have some park tickets left so just let me know.

Halfway Point

I can't believe that I have been in Florida for 3 months already. The time is flying by. Now I only have 3 months left before my program is over. Spring break has just ended at Disney World and thank goodness for that. Now I can go back to just working 40 hours a week and getting 3 days off. Yippee!!! Here are some pics from What's been happening lately.

Deployed one more Time

I finally get sent back to the Lodge after working for a month at Yacht and Beach. I work for one week and then I get deployed again. This time I'm being sent to Port Orleans, both Riverside and French Quarter. If you ever decide to stay at Port Orleans, I highly reccommend Riverside.

Not the French Quarter....

So now I get to work at two different pools in one day. To get from one place to the next the lifeguards get to ride bikes. During the day I get to go swimming and play games with the kids as part of my rotation. I don't think that part time jobs get much better than this.

Mini Spring Break

Since I don't get any time off to take an actual vacation I decided to use my three "off" days and have a mini Spring Break.

On Tuesday my roomates and I went to Blizzard Beach and had a wonderful day of riding down slides and taking a nap in the lazy river.

On Wednesday I went to Epcot with some other guards that I work with. (Yakatori House has some great Japanese food). And after that we went shopping for a little bit, because what vacation is complete without a shopping trip???

And on Thursday I went with my roommate to Animal Kingdom.

All in all I think that it was one of the best Spring Breaks I have ever had. Now I just have to return to the real world. (sigh)

Moving On

And hello Yacht and Beach Club!

All Moved In

I'm sorry I haven't been more diligent with my blog, but in all honesty my life wasn't very exciting the past few months. But now I'm back! I'm officially moved in to my apartment. I have 5 roommates and it's 2 girls per bedroom. All of the girls are very nice and we all get along great! I just finished my lifeguard certification yesterday and I start on the job training on Saturday. I still don't have a costume yet, but I'll be sure to post a picture of it. For now here's a picture of me and my roomies.
